The great Nordic War (1709-1720)
 In the early 18.th century Denmark was at war with Sweden. The young Swedish King - Karl Gustav XII -
wished to take possession of Norway, at that part of the Danish kingdom, Frederikshavn, in those says only a small harbour called Fladsttrand,
became an important strategic outpost for the Royal danish Navy.
From this harbour one of Scandinavia´s best-known heroes protected Danish interests and kept Norway and Denmark solidy unired as one kingdom
throughout the war.

In june each year more than 1000 Danish, Norwegian and Swedish people meet at the harbour site. Over a period of tree days  
they retell and teconstruet the legends of Tordenskiold and the histoeical stories of Frederikshavn for the public.

The stage is set

The stage is set......for you to step back to the year 1717
The small fishermen´s town of Fladstrand is crowded with uniforms. Busy couriers carry messages constantly to adjutants and general commissaries.
The lines of communication are crucial. More uniforms appear. Yes, it is time...............
The heredirary ene from Sweden has a ship nearby but Tordenskiold is on our side along with our Norwegian brothers.
Counsel is taken and Tordenskiold decides the strategy. They must be captured! It needs a pincer movement that requires courage and patience.
Fear must be puy aside.

You will be overwhelmed when you hear the sound of cannons and smell the smoke from the historic black powder guns as it fills the air.

You will be attracted to of the 4000 tons impressive historical fortress called "Krudttårnet" ( Power Tower) which dates
back to 1686, when it was a part of the Fladstrand Citadel.

Your attention will also be drawn to the medieval market and the children´s 18th century games. And everybody will enjoy the breathtaking view of the 18th century Tall Ships`in the harbour when they open
their fire and take part in an impressive sea battle.

Surrounded by the artillery and infantry of the soldiers of Tordenskiold you still totally safe as you take a
step back into a glorious time - it will be the peak of your visit!
